How should I use the JPAT report?
The JPAT uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to better interpret Johne’s milk ELISA test results. The new ‘cluster’ classification gives greater sensitivity over the widely used J-classification allowing farmers to identify high risk cows earlier, and make proactive breeding or culling decisions.
The report gives an indication of the direction of progress in Johne’s control as measured by first lactation heifers. The number of hidden high risk cows is shown – these are cows that have a high risk of carrying Johne’s, but are considered J0 or J1 in the current classification system. Lastly, the report gives an indication of the likely route of infection – bought in, maternal, maternity pen, early environmental or environmental.
